About Dr. David Janet

November 5, 2018

Midwest Dental is introducing Dr. David Janet to the Waunakee community. Dr. Janet joined the Midwest Dental office located at 5898 Woodland Drive in July of this year.

Dr. Janet grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago in Oak Lawn, IL. Growing up, he was always very active and enjoyed running. “In high school, I was on the track team which was where I made most of my close friends,” he stated.

Those close friends helped him get started on his path to dentistry in an unlikely way. One year when it came time to find a summer job, his friends from the track team all seemed to have the same plan. “All my friends either were or wanted to be lifeguards,” he said with a laugh. “I however was not a strong swimmer so it wasn’t an option for me.”

Fortunately, that same summer his friend’s dad asked Dr. Janet if he would like to come help him at his dental practice in town. It was something that he had never done before but his interest piqued. He started out just doing odd jobs around the practice and eventually went on to become a dental assistant. “I really just grew to enjoy dentistry. It was a mix of science and art and from there on out I knew it was what I wanted to do as a career,” he shared.

After he graduated from high school, Dr. Janet attended North Central College in Naperville, IL where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. He then decided to go to Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine where he received his dental degree. This is also where he met his friend and now co-worker, Dr. Tucker Smith. “We were friends in dental school and while I was still studying there I would visit my sister at the University of Madison and on my way I would stop to see Tucker at the Midwest Dental office in Waunakee,” he said. “I grew to really like the area which is why I decided to make the move after graduation.”

Dr. Janet and Dr. Smith now both work in the same dental practice and enjoy the opportunity they have to work together. “We are both team-oriented people and we both incorporate that into how we work with our patients and with each other,” Dr. Janet explained. “My goal is to work together with patients through motivation, cooperation, education, and quality experiences.”

When Dr. Janet is not in the office he still enjoys running and you may find him training for triathlons. “I enjoy biking and running, but swimming is still not my strong suit so it is something that I am heavily working on,” he shared. He also loves watching sports and travels to Chicago and Milwaukee frequently to visit family and friends. “Although I love my hometown, I am really looking forward to getting out into the Waunakee area and getting to know the community,” Dr. Janet stated.
