I enjoy long distance running, spending time with my family, and exploring the trails in the Coralville/Iowa City area with my dog. I'm an avid reader with several books lined up to read next, and a fan of the public library. I also enjoy yoga, cooking and trying new restaurants.
I am a Hawkeye through and through, born and raised in Iowa. I attended the University of Iowa for my undergraduate degree and continued on to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. I have known I wanted to be a dentist from a very young age, and to this day there is nothing I would love to do more. I understand not everyone loves coming to the dentist so I strive to create an environment in which my patients feel comfortable and cared for. I listen to my patients' concerns and make sure they feel understood. I am committed to educating and involving my patients to help them achieve oral health and a smile they are proud of. I enjoy the festivals, restaurants and entertainment available in the Coralville/North Liberty/Iowa City area. I'm passionate about running, yoga, and overall fitness and nutrition. I enjoy cooking, traveling, and cheering on the Hawkeyes with friends and family.
I fell in love with Iowa City when I moved to the area for college. In fact, I loved it so much that I decided to stay for dental school. The best part of dental school was working with my patients and I'm very excited to continue working with patients in Eastern Iowa. I take a compassionate approach to dental care, ensuring patients are comfortable and well informed before, during, and after their treatment. I enjoy working with patients of all ages- from children to adults- in our modern and friendly environment. Here, our goal is to help patients achieve their oral health goals and maintain their smile for a lifetime. I believe in lifelong learning and regularly attend continuing education courses to stay current on the best practices and techniques to better serve my patients. I look forward to welcoming you to our new practice and building lasting relationships.

It's a very busy place i had an a amzing time with the dental assistant who was friendly and very professional. The doc reviewed my xrays and came up with a plan then i had cleaning done by her and the dental hygenist. I was so worried about the pain and what would happen today but everybody talk me through every thing step by step the dental hygenist was a 10/10 very encouraging educative and now i understand a good dental plan to maintain the amazing work they do. I recommend any one new to the area to check them out. Very professional and the music was also 10/10 you will know when you are laying there scared of dental work and the back ground music is just calming.

She polled her friends & Midwest Dental was the overwhelming winner. I had my initial appointment 2 weeks ago & they could not have been nicer from the receptionist, the hygienist & the dentist. They were all super friendly & reassuring & explained everything every step of the way. They were very thorough in setting up an exact treatment plan, what order things should be done in & exactly what I would be paying for each appointment. They were so kind & kept reiterating how glad they were that I was here now & that they would get me back on track. Seriously, even if you are terrified to go to the dentist- this is the place to go where you will feel heard & understood & be treated with kindness & respect.

Between the pleasant front office staff, the gentle (but persistent) medical staff, and the comfortable appointment experiences, I have nothing but good things to say about these folks. Special shout-out to Thao, who has not only helped me learn how to take better care of my teeth, BUT I don't end up in TEARS while she's cleaning my teeth -- something I don't take for granted. Highly recommend this office if you're looking to have a quality dental health experience.

They explain what they're going to do before doing it which helps when you're afraid of going in at all. They are also efficient. I always expect my appointments to go long but they get you in and out pretty quick.

I was introduced to Dr. Teahen through a recommendation from a dear friend and quickly realized that she handles her patients with exceptional consideration and care. One notable instance stands out: my grade school-aged daughter had an accident late on a Friday afternoon that affected her two front adult teeth. I was out of town at the time, but I managed to reach Dr. Teahen just as she was closing her office for the weekend. Despite not being a registered client, Dr. Teahen stayed open and took extra care of my daughter, understanding the difficulty of her being without me. Dr. Teahen is detailed, brilliant, and provides a level of care beyond the expertise of other dentists in the area. I cannot recommend her enough.
My two small children and I are all patients here. It is, hands down, the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Everyone is genuinely friendly and committed to excellence. On occasions when I’ve had severe tooth pain, I’ve received same-day appointments and immediate referrals to specialty clinics. Their bedside manner is particularly impressive with children. My kids are very young and we’ve had a few bad experiences with other dentists. Midwest Dental has been wonderful with them — patient, and even fun (my kids still talk about the giant prize basket!) Definitely recommend this practice.

My 1st visit and I only had x-rays and exam but Dr. McBride and Catalina were great as well as the front desk - Josh if I remember correctly. I will be back for my cleaning and looking forward to it - who says that about their dentist!?! Came back for my cleaning with Thao and filling after my root canal. Thao was awesome, explained everything with detail, very kind and was a pleasure to see her. My root canal filling was not scheduled, but the team was able to fit me in and keep me from having to come back for a 3rd time in such a short period. Wonderful team and experience - looking forward to my next visit in Jan.
I have been a patient at Midwest Dental for a couple of years now. I can honestly say that every person I have met and received care from in the office has been genuinely pleasant, caring, professional, and nice to work with. Dr. Teahen has been my dentist for multiple cleanings and for my invisible aligner treatment. She is very thorough, explains the treatment I detail, and makes me feel confident that I am in good hands. She’s also simply a nice person :) I am very satisfied with my aligner treatment, which was completed earlier this year with Dr. Teahen. My teeth were very crooked and are now perfectly aligned. I was very impressed by my visit here. I have HATED the dentist for 25 years and this was the first time I actually didn’t mind going to the dentist. They offered me numbing gel which helped significantly since I hadn’t been to the dentist in 2-3 years. They also NEVER pressured me into doing anything cost wise. They checked with my insurance and made sure I knew exactly how much everything would cost and allowed me time to think and give informed consent on what I’d like to do. Overall, the staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and made me feel safe and comfortable. I would recommend this clinic to anyone!

As a hygienist, Lisa is the best. As always, she does a thorough job and doesn't miss a thing. She also makes you feel relaxed and educates you on the care of your teeth. And, Dr. McBride was amazing from exam to dental work. I have some anxiety and he was so calm and talked me through each step of his work. His assistant was also very assuring and kind. I don't typically leave reviews but this place deserves one, especially if it helps someone with dental anxiety like myself. I hadn't been to a dentist in 5+ years, and I was so scared of being judged or looked down upon for my lack of oral care. The entire staff here made me feel so welcome and were the complete opposite of judgemental. I felt comfortable sharing an honest description of my dental issues, hygiene practices, etc. Plus Annie was so nice and so fun to talk to!!

This was my first visit to Midwest Dental. My previous dentist unfortunately retired so I needed to find somewhere else to go. I'm thankful Midwest Dental got recommended to me because I felt like it wasn't my very first visit here. All the staff was friendly and helpful right when you walk in. -My Dental Hygienist (Thao) was very knowledgeable, thorough and genuinely cared about me understanding what was going on with my teeth. (I thought for sure she was Dr. Thao) -(Dr. Mcbride) has a lot of knowledge and absolutely knows what he is talking about as well. He gave some awesome analogies that went along with dentistry and my career that was quite funny. Overall, a very personable staff that won't make you regret coming here whether you fear the dentist or not!

Also a big plus is they offer Botox! When going through finances Jess was great at breaking everything down for me. Couldn’t recommend this office enough!

This is now my second visit in a month. Dr. Teahen checked in with me during both procedures to insure my comfort level was at a maximum. She is gentle but gets her work done efficiently and effectively! Dr. Teahen is the type of dentist that cares about her patients first. Thao my hygienist was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable both visits. She always offered me time to break or ask questions. The front desk staff is awesome at helping understand insurance policies and all the different types of work that gets done. What a professional dental office. I had an incredibly educational visit to the dentist today. My hygienist, Thao, kept me informed of the tools she was using, potential issues she was looking for, and identified (in common terms) what she was seeing. She also routinely asked me how I was doing and if I had any questions. She showed me my X-rays, and we discussed the photos of my teeth. All in all, most informative and friendly dental visit I’ve ever had. Dr. McBride was also super friendly and easy to talk to. I felt well cared for and he took his time to get to know me (and my teeth!) Definitely recommend!

There's nothing bad I can say about my experience at this office. I waited far too long before deciding to go and get my teeth looked at, but the staff was extremely comforting and never made me feel guilty about having waited. The hygienists were very knowledgeable and transparent, making sure to explain all of my x-rays and imaging. The receptionist was also fantastic in helping with my insurance. If you're looking for a dentist, definitely don't hesitate to go here!

But everyone who works at the office is kind and positive, and I never felt shamed or bad about how I'd let my dental care lapse. Instead, I felt cared for, and it's inspired me to take better care of my overall health. Could not recommend more highly!

I FEARED the dentist for YEARS. I haven’t been to the dentist in 10 years. I had originally told them that and they were more than happy to help me. They walked me through everything they were doing. They showed me x-rays and pictures of my teeth and explained what we’re the problems. They were super nice and patient with me. Can’t wait to see them in 6 months! They even showed me the correct way to floss (I didn’t even know there was a wrong way to floss, but leave it to me to do it that way!). They never made me feel dumb for waiting to go to the dentist so long or flossing wrong! I will recommend them to everyone I know!
I have HATED and feared dentists my whole life. So much so that I put off my dental care for years until I broke a tooth and couldn't ignore it anymore. Walking into this office - i was fully ready to have those same cold and harsh experiences that made me fear the dentist in the first place. I cannot stress enough that my experience with this office was exactly the opposite. The office manager Jennifer is so kind and welcoming. The dental assistant and Dr. McBride put me at ease, explained what would be happening, and gave me so much piece of mind. They often checked in on me during and even called to check in on me after my procedures. These people care so much, and it shows. Dr. William McBride is my dentist. You will never find a more CARING, GENTLE, knowledgeable, compassionate, dedicated, professional, kind and patient dentist AND human being than Dr. Will McBride. As a patient of Dr. McBrides, I have always felt HEARD and cared about. Because of Dr. McBrides patience and willingness to explain in detail, what needs to be done, I have always been sure of what the treatment plan would be. There were no surprises along the way. I always knew what the costs would be and there’s never ANY pressure to do anything you aren’t up to doing. My dental work has been SUPERIOR from Dr. McBride! He’s spent the last 11 years re-doing a lot of the work I had done years ago and he’s done a fabulous job! I’ve never felt rushed, pressured, ignored or unimportant.
