About Dr. Adam Meinhardt
Dr. Meinhardt sat down with us to share why he loves being your dentist.
Q: When did you know you wanted to be a dentist?
A: I come from a family of dentists. My dad, his brothers, my grandpa and all my cousins are all dentists. I never had a chance of being ‘normal’. My projects throughout childhood all said, “I want to be a dentist.”
Q: What has been surprising or interesting about being a dentist?
A: It’s really cool to bring someone in the office and relieve them of pain right away. When somebody comes to you with a problem, such as a chipped front tooth, you can get them back to normal pretty quickly and easily. For example, I had a patient who had bad teeth and hadn’t been to the dentist in a long time. He would put his hand over his mouth when he laughed. We made him dentures and he turned his whole life around. It was rewarding to see him so happy.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I really enjoy cycling, running and skiing. On Friday’s when I’m off, I occasionally volunteer at a pediatric clinic in Waukesha for uninsured and underinsured kids. I started volunteering there in dental school and when I moved back to the area. It’s really rewarding to be able to help those kids. They need the care since they can’t get it anywhere else. They are appreciative of being seen.
