Unfortunately, my review has nothing to do with the excellent service provided by the Dental Hygienist and the Dentist themselves, but the front desk office staff. I am a Licensed Home Daycare Provider, and have been a patient at this office for 9 years; through the name/corporate changes, etc. We've always loved Dr. Mettman, but for years..there have been complaints from friends who have stopped going there due to the one older lady at the front desk, who checks you out after your appointment. Then, in more recent years, the younger lady with long dark hair who checks you in. Yesterday, I was asked if I wanted to come in early for my 5 year olds appointment, because they'd had some cancellations. I uprooted the daycare from the normal schedule and went on in. Now, although we have 7 kids in daycare, they're angels. We literally get compliments every time we go out in public on how well-behaved they all are together. They walked in groups of 2 (with me carrying the baby), hand-in-hand, in to the building and went right to the kid corner, to play quietly. Even playing quietly, is going to have some voices noise when there are 7 children. They came to get my daughter and take her back, and now there were 6. The front desk lady gave me a dirty look when I sent my daughter back (not sure why that's different than me getting my teeth done at the same time and not being in the room with her?). There were a few people in the waiting room, and the kids continued to play. The baby got fussy so I walked around with him, trying to quiet him. Then, next thing I know, the younger lady at the desk leans over the front desk and hollers across the room "Hey, make those kids be quiet. She (pointing at the older lady) can't even go over her care plan." They literally were NOT even being loud. The baby was crying. That's it. It could've been ANY mother in there with ONE baby, and there is no way that would've happened. Then, a lady in the room asked what she said, so she proceeded to tell her that she was telling me to tell the kids to be quiet. RUDE. I was furious. I helped the kids pick up every last toy in the kids area and took them into the foyer (between the front doors, and had them sit on the bench. I leaned my head back in to let them know that's where I would be when my daughter was done, and they were standing there gossiping about it. I told them I would be out there, where the kids wouldn't INCONVENIENCE them playing in the KIDS CORNER, and that they were very quiet, except for a fussy baby, and that they acted completely rude. I was shaking, I was so upset when I left there. I honestly don't know if I will return. I know they've had repeated complaints about those two, yet Corporate is doing NOTHING to reprimand them, or get rid of the bad help. This is a terrible way to represent your office. If your office staff doesn't want to have kids, then don't have a kids corner and tell your patients you're not a kid-friendly establishment. You don't have front office staff that treat mothers (or daycare providers) like that. I don't believe for one second they would've said ANYTHING to a mother with kids in there; only to me, because they were disgusted I had 7 children with me. I'm ashamed for them, for the way they acted..and in front of numerous patients.

I was pleasantly surprised that I found the building so easily. I normally get lost. The staff could not have been nicer and the surroundings were very nice. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, they listen to what you are saying. They make you feel at home. Treats you like you are the only one that matters when you're that chair. And for the doctor's, they are the greatest!!!!!!!

I recently moved to Wichita and have been looking for a good dental clinic that takes the dental plan I have. I was very pleased to find Midwest Dental in Derby. The clinic offered me their $89 special since I was a new patient and didn't have actual dental insurance. The dental hygienist was a recent graduate from WSU's dental school. She was friendly, efficient and competent. She and Dr. Mettman gave me a thorough examination and they answered all my questions, as well as offering me their opinions about how best to clean my teeth. The office staff is also efficient and personable. I left the office with specific pricing for teeth whitening and a price list for the various procedures I will have done at my next check up. I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN TO THIS DENTAL CLINIC. Susie, a senior citizen.
