The past two years of going to this dentist has been a huge disappointment. With our family 5 we have a lot of appointments in a year and over the past couple years we have had constant cancellations of our appointments and needing to reschedule. The one plus had been our hygienist, Sky, she had been fantastic for us. But after a couple more cancellations recently we have decided it was time to move on to a different dentist after 10 plus years of going to Midwest, each year we were more and more disappointed with the service we were receiving.

I went into the office for a crown. The dentist looked at my x-rays and was concerned about a shadow. After taking a new x-ray he showed me the tooth next to the first tooth was split and should also be crowded. After seeing the x-rays I agreed and he prepared both teeth at the same time. It wasn't the news I was prepared for but he was very professional and explained the options.

Dr Knobe may be younger and newer to the profession but her knowledge and expertise is as good or better than dentist I have been to. She listens. She addressed a concern I had about spaces in my teeth and is the only one who has ever explained the 'why' behind it and potential solutions. She is also collaborative and will make referrals to professionals she knows and has confidence in. She provided information on why a sleep study is important and made the referral directly. Skye, the dental hygienist, is also excellent to work with, takes her time and is very knowledgeable as well. I will definitely return to see Dr Knobe & Skye for future visits. I felt listened to, treated with respect and in the hands of two skillful professionals.

It was my first experience at this North location and it will be my last. The patient experience is lacking and my exam appointment was chaotic: employee was struggling to solve problems on computer software, single imaging x-ray tool was very uncomfortable in the mouth with lots of stabbing, and doctor sent me off with my mouth full of blood - I had to ask for the rinse tool. Receptionist was kind, she did indicate that there are many new people in training and it definitely shows. I really hope they make improvements for future new patients.

Sky (sp?). She was caring, efficient, thorough, gave good/clear explanations, practically painless. Probably the best hygienist I've ever seen. And, with my mouth full of hardware, I've seen quite a few. And I'm also impressed with the new dentist (didn't remember the name) but she was also thorough, gave excellent explanations and was very professional and pleasant! Then the new dentist came in. He was harsh and arrogant. He never made eye contact at the introduction and just looked down. When you meet someone new you look them in the eyes. I felt like a number he had to get through rather than a patient.

The next 30 have been in Wisconsin, where I have been to several different dentists. Not ever going back to this place. Dentist was horrible, terrible chairside manner , got mad at me for closing my mouth during the procedure when he hadn't made it clear to me I shouldn't do that. Then proceeded to tighten a clamp on one of my teeth but neglected to notice they had part of my skin caught in the clamp! I had to stop them from tightening it by putting my hand up! Finally they dropped a tooth scraper ON MY FACE and actually cut me, but never mentioned it and tried to act like it never happened! Stay far away!

A year ago I had a tooth extraction by the former dentist and have had gum sensitivity since. Tried all kinds of tooth paste for sensitive gums, with no relief. Upon my recent cleaning examination by Dr. John Machi, he discovered a root that was not extracted with the tooth. He was so kind and offered to remove at no charge since it was by the previous dentist at this practice. I have never been a huge fan of going to the dentist, and I was extremely nervous going in to this appointment because it had been such a long time. I was checked in and in the chair in no time. The staff made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Olsen came in to the room before the exam even began just to chat. The dental hygienist always made what she was doing very explicit and kept me distracted and comfortable throughout the whole process. I needed a new dentist. I know the name Midwest Dental has been in the city for a long time. I was very impressed, with the speed I got in and how gentle but good the hygienist was. I had to have some work done by dentist later and he too was gentle and caring throughout.

Dr. Olson (perhaps spelled Olsen?) is the only dentist I've had that I don't mind going to see. The whole staff is wonderful, and I always have a comfortable experience. The dentist and dental assistants seem to have a really good relationship and it's nice going to a place where they care all about their work, their patients, and each other. Two thumbs up! :)

Been going there for about ten years. Loved Dr. Deaton who left but Dr. Olson is very nice and kind. We always know about what insurance will cover before we start and the ladies always work hard to get every dollar they can from insurance before we have to pay. I am actually thinking of changing dentists. I saw a new dentist at Midwest a few months ago and he barely spoke to me. He was in and out without much communication. I need to have something repaired that the previous dentist did and they want to charge another $100 to repair his work. My husband has had difficulty with their accounting department asking for additional payments after the work has been done - they did not clarify that some work would not be covered by insurance so that he could make a decision based on accurate estimates. He thinks they are out for money instead of being concerned about their patients' care. We are probably both changing dentists soon.
